The images are of landscapes of trees and how they can be shown in an image. The ways they can be showed is from a far, up close, and zoomed in from a further distance. The images are from an array of places. These images are taken from a pond with wildlife inside from a field with greenery. The images are showing how landscapes can be shown from different places and angles that can be used to take a photo of the landscape that is being presented to you. Other images are taken from further distances. These photos are representing the outline that can be seen. Examples can be, the little hedges ,stone, and water fountains. Back to the future:
- What similarities do you notice do you notice between the photos? The images both have remnants of the sea, in the photo on the left there is other added details within the photos. This photo has rocks close to the camera and, further back in the photo there is containers on land. The photo on the right there is calm seas and a collage look with another photo added to it.
- What differences do you notice? The differences in the photos are that the image on the left, has a clear image of the sea with a wave up close to the camera. Further details are the containers and rocks within frame of the image that the other photo doesn't have so its a difference between the two photos. The image was an Albumen print from collodion-on-glass negative. Whereas, the image on the right is a collage of two images, one of which the sea with low-level sea levels and the elements of paper thats burnt with the detail that is given to the photo.
- What words/phrases best describe each of these landscapes? Words that you can use for the image on the left is, old-looking. This is because the quality of the image is old and doesn't look like modern day camera quality. The image on the right, words/phrases you could use are modern day. This is because, ther quality look much better than on the left, this is shown with how clear the image is.
- In which of these landscapes would you prefer to live? I'd prefer to live in the the photo on the right because the scenery of the image is better with the calm seas and low-level seas with a good background with a good surrounding image that it could have. The image on the left is in the middle of the ocean with rocks and containers that look like suppliers that are used on occasion making it a risk to live at.
Minimalist landscape
- Describe what you can see and what might be missing from both landscape photographs? Whats I can see from both photographs is, that the photo on the left has a printed out tree on a black piece of paper. Whereas, on the left what i can see from the photo is, that there is a sketched out tree in pen with added little details on the right side of the image. what might be missing from the image on the right is, that there isn't much detail in the photo with a singular photo, in the middle of the paper. What might be missing on the right hand side photo is, that there isn't much colour and blank making it hard to make out what the image is sketch of.
- Describe what you found surprising or unusual about them? What i find surprising or unusual about the photo on the left side is, that there is a singular tree in the middle of the page without anything else to show for it or with it. Whats surprising about the photo on the left hand side photo is, that the colour of paper in the background doesn't match the theme of the photo making it more bizarre with what is being shown in front of you. Whereas, whats surprising or unusual about the photo on the right side is that, there isn't much detail on the photo with no background effects to the image. What's unusual about the photo on the right is that, the choice in which the photo has been made. so, this makes it different from what others would do instead.
- Explain how you feel when you look at both of the photos? How I feel when I look at the photo on the left side is, simplistic. I feel this way because, there isn't much effort that has been put into making the image. The simplicity of printing a photo out and sticking it to a piece of black paper. The photo on the right side makes me feel like, there is some effort and care being put into the image. i feel this way because, there is some detail on the side of the image but not much. The main image, makes me feel like theres not much effort being put into it. This is because, there is no detail put into the main focus of the image.
- Explain how you would attempt to make pictures like these? How I would attempt to make photos like these is, by sketching an image out and then overlaying that sketch to make an image and then adding added details to make the sketch stand out making it a better photo. Making the photo look brighter and better.
- Suggest why you think each artist has removed parts of the landscape? The artist on the left may have removed part of the image because, it wouldn't have fit on the piece of paper that the artist is using. The artist on the right side may have removed part of the image because, the page the Artist was using wasn't big enough to fit the ideas that they had planned to add to the photo.
- Explain which of these pictures you prefer and why? I prefer the photo on the left because it looks neater and much more clear to understand what the image being shown is and what you can make out about the photo.
